ARTIST NUMBA FIFTEEN: Wendy Wallin Malinow
A craftsman artist, Wendy Malinow useses layered paper cutouts to create x-ray inspired representations of animals and what is inside their stomachs. Wendy's work is a dichotemy of simplicity and complexity- there is a deeper story and underlaying sadness to the few clean cut shapes that are laid out. Each piece addresses the reality that in order for something to live, something else must die. But some pieces still hold a witty and playful air, for instance the little red riding hoot cape inside the wolf. All in all her art is creative and causes you to stop and think about deeper issues as well.
