Stef Cook, an artist from Ohio, is the creator of a series of watercolor portraits she calls "Fine Portraits". Each piece is the profile of a man, intricately detailed with fine lines and shaded textures. She also has a counterpart to Fine Portraits entitled "Wash Portraits". These are silhouette profiles filled in with saturated watercolor washes that allude to detail while showing the tendency of water to flow and blur lines. Both sets of profiles are equally captivating, and show a different side of portrait art.
Watercolor is my favorite medium to work in, and it is inspiring to see the way Cook is able to paint skin tones and keep such clean and controlled detail within her faces.
