ARTIST NUMBA SEVEN: Jessica Hische

It is no doubt that typography as the up-and-coming niche for emerging artists and graphic designers. Phrases and quotes designed in scrolling or elaborate lettering are everywhere- Pinterest, Facebook, Etsy, Instagram, Tumblr... you name it, it's there. I was first drawn into the world of typography through the work of Jessica Hische. She is probably most readily identifiable as the designer of the beautiful Barnes & Noble Classics covers, however has worked for many well-known companies. Her main medium is the Adobe Illustrator (but uses pencil and paper for sketching of course) and creates a range of fonts, magazine and book covers, greeting cards, and drop-cap letters.
Since I will be using lettering a lot in the cover of my book, as well as throughout the pages, I feel like Jessica Hische will be a very useful source of inspiration. Her work is simple but elegant, which is the overall feel I am hoping to convey in my own art.
