I heard about Yeondoo Jung a couple years ago, and was so struck by her creativity I felt the urge to tell almost everybody I talked to about her art. In 2005 she did a project called "Wonderland" where she took drawings from children and turned them into real like scenes using photography and a tidbit of digital editing. The very idea is absolutely charming and exciting, and draws the viewer back into their own imagination. She portrays all the key elements from the children's pictures but also uses her artist's license when it comes to placement and some other parts that may have been left out.
I am particularly inspired by Jung because she captures such a purity in her art that I believe is beautiful. The real art is from the children, and her art is intended to be a continuous flow of that story or idea. For my senior sem project I am planning on creating a larger-than-life children's book, so this artwork really helps move me forward in the right direction.
