ARTIST NUMBA EIGHT: Jack Kirby

      Ok so going a little bit out of the box here, but it would be irresponsible of me not to include one of my most constant artist influences, Jack Kirby. I grew up with a dad who was an avid comic-book collector, and since Jack Kirby was his favorite artist I became well acquainted with his style. When I first began to draw from sight at around 9 or 10, I would try and copy some of Kirby's characters, and his influence can be seen in my work to this day.
      Jack Kirby grew up in New York City in the 1930's, and is universally heralded as being  "one of the major innovators and most influential creators in the comic book medium". He is probably best known as one of the founding creators of Captain America, along with many others.
      I am hoping to create illustrations that include aspects from traditional book layouts and also comic book layouts. Jack Kirby's style of faces and close-ups are also very inspirational to me.
